Each part of the app is there to help you feel more ready in real conversations.
01
Dialogue-first lessons teach useful phrases, grammar, and cultural context built specifically for Tagalog and the people learning it.

02
Each lesson adds vocabulary to your review deck, and spaced repetition brings words back at the right time so you remember more with less busywork.

03
Real-time speaking practice gives you conversation goals, bilingual support, and feedback after each session so you know what to say and what to improve.

04
Your coach listens to recordings, gives clear feedback, and helps you sound more natural without making you feel embarrassed.

Proof from learners
For some people that means answering mom. For others it means speaking up at family gatherings without freezing.
“Words that were difficult for me to remember in the beginning are now second nature. I used phrases I learned with my mom and she said 'wow where did you learn that?' I'm looking forward to learning more so that I can talk to my lolo and lola in Tagalog!”
“What really put this app above all the others for me were the AI phone calls! It helps you practice your pronunciation and phrasing as if you are having a real conversation. Definitely boosted my confidence after a few tries!”
“I've always wanted to learn Tagalog. This is the first app that has helped me understand language and pronunciation without overwhelming me. The flashcard and AI speech practice have been game changers.”

From the founder, Luke
Growing up, I heard Tagalog all around me, but I was never taught to speak it. I felt close to my family and far from the language at the same time. Tahanan is the product I wish had existed then: warm, thoughtful, culturally grounded, and built for people trying to get something meaningful back.
After years as a software engineer, and after sharing my own learning publicly, I built Tahanan so heritage learners and beginners could have a path that feels personal from the first tap.
This is more than language learning. It's a way home.
— Luke, founder of Tahanan
